It does no highlight reconstruction - not even a poor attempt. I would rate it unusable - admittedly harsh but it has some very serious flaws. That "Develop" module is simply not ready for prime time. Like PS which ships with ACR Affinity Photo incorporates a "Develop" module to handle converting raw files which it then passes to the main raster editor. However I would not let it anywhere near a Fuji RAF file. Does anyone use it, and is it any good for Fuji files?Īffinity Photo is a PS clone and as a raster image editor it is excellent especially given the cost. However, thought I’d ask, as I have been looking at the new Affinity apps as alternatives to a couple of apps I am fed up paying subscriptions for. I have never seen any mention of this app for post-processing of Fuji RAW files, so I assume it’s not rated by Fuji users. Basically it's a pretty good Photoshop replacement and when I need it, I export from CaptureOne into 16-TIFF and then do additional edits in Affinity Photo.Īs a RAW converter, I only use it to mess with RAW files of non-Fuji cameras when I'm bored, to see their dynamic range / noise, because my Capture One copy only works with Fujifilm. It has nice HDR/Focus merge tools and all the usual drawing primitives of PhotoShop. CaptureOne is miles ahead.Īffinity Photo is good for creative stuff, when you want to merge multiple images, or heavily modify an image (like adding fake blur or various edge effects to it). Many other things are missing (presets, granular B&W controls)īasically, as a RAW processor it's good for very basic operations but, if the exposure was correct, it would take me a lot of work to get somewhat close to the in-camera JPEG processor.Affinity cannot manage your photo library. There are no batch processing tools like Capture One.Noise reduction quality is not as good as Capture One.You get the default "Affinity Photo look" which is fairly neutral. Control over colors is not nearly as fine-grained and powerful as with Capture One.You do not get Fuji film simulations and the default "Fuji Look" in Affinity Photo. For RAW processing, Affinity cannot compete with Capture One: I replaced Lightroom + Photoshop combo with CaptureOne + Affinity Photo pair.
